Charged with a Failure to Appear Violation

FAILURE TO APPEAR
If you fail to appear after given proper notice from the Court, a warrant will be issued for your arrest. The Court may also issue an additional violation referred to as a Failure to Appear (FTA) or Violate Promise to Appear (VPTA), incurring separate fines and fees.
Warrant Fees
A $50 fee is added to each violation that is issued an ARREST WARRANT. You may also be assessed a fee placing a hold on the renewal of your license and additional fees when sent to collections. (Fines and/or fees subject to change without notice.)
A defendant with an active warrant for a class C misdemeanor needs to visit the Municipal Court, at their earliest opportunity,  where the citation was filed and receive methods of resolution. Have no fear of Arrest
The Roman Forest Municipal Court is a “Safe Harbor” from arrest for those with active WARRANTS. Article 45.014(g) requires a judge to recall an arrest warrant for the defendant’s failure to appear if, before the arrest warrant is executed, the defendant voluntarily appears to resolve the arrest warrant and the arrest warrant is resolved in the manner authorized per S.B. 1913.
Defendants with active warrants have the opportunity to appear at a “Walk-In Docket” without fear of being arrested. Contact the court for scheduled court dates and attendance instructions.
OMNI Database & Third Party Collections
The Roman Forest Municipal Court forwards all outstanding cases to OMNI Base Services of Texas. This statewide database will deny renewal of the defendant's driver’s license indefinitely, until the defendant has paid or disposed of all active cases. To verify the status of your license visit the Texas Department of Public Safety's verification site.
In addition, the Roman Forest Municipal Court also refers past due cases to a third-party collection agency. For all cases referred, an additional 30% is added to undisposed violations.
If Ordered To Pay A Fine And Cost, And You Cannot Pay In Full, Notify The Court Immediately. If You Are Determined By The Court To Have Insufficient Resources Or Income To Pay, The Court Is Required To Provide You Other Ways To Discharge The Fine And Costs.
